Detailed Construction

Our basic recommendation for short term or seasonal jet ski and watercraft stickers, graphics and decals is:
  •
Convex GearWrap
  • Convex Laminate

The Convex GearWrap is our most popular vinyl for watercraft graphics, but we also have Convex UV Laminate for graphics that need an extended life up to 7 years.

Laminating with either the 4 or 8 mil Convex Laminate will protect your graphics from abrasion from docks, bumpers, boats, etc.

Convex™ Vinyl for Jet Skis, Boats, & Waverunners

Convex GearWrap is great for graphics & decals for any variety of watercraft. Convex is very forgiving to work with. It has a petroleum resistant adhesive that is repositionable for easy placement of graphics.

Once it is burnished down and cures, it is permanent. Convex UV is a 4 mil 7 year vinyl. For short term or seasonal graphics, you may want to try Convex GearWrap 2 year vinyl. Convex GearWrap’s adhesive is designed for high-energy surfaces such as fiberglass and smooth painted surfaces and can be removed without leaving adhesive residue for up to one year.

Convex UV is a 7 year vinyl. Convex GearWrap is a 2 year vinyl. Those ratings are based on how long it takes for UV light to start turning the vinyl yellow. So if your watercraft only sees the sun 4 months out to the year and is out of the sun the rest of the time, well... we're sure you can do the math.

Convex UV laminate is also a 7 year vinyl, but it has UV inhibitors that actually block enough UV to prolong the color life of you graphics. The racing boat pictured above was printed with a solvent ink jet on 3M Controltac and then laminated with Convex 4 mil laminate.

The laminate made the graphics thick enough that it only required one person to do the installation. And even though the UV laminate was not used, the graphics will only be exposed to UV light in the summer months.
